Today has been one of those crazy days. I'm off, so of course it is raining. Woke up, got the kids off to school, shoveled down breakfast, finished painting the stairs, went to Target, got my hair trimmed, gathered coffee & sandwiches for lunch with a friend, sped to school to pick up children, dropped them off, sped to library where I dodged through the crowd of smoking homeless people on the sidewalk to drop off movies, tried to buy gas but ran out of time before I had to speed back to school to pick up tap-dancing boy.
Now I'm home hovering over his shoulder because it's the only way to get him to actually do his homework. Otherwise he floats away into distraction land and takes hours to finish. Seriously, hours. And we don't have hours. Then he will move along to addressing Valentines, which is less than critical in my view, so I will speed to buy fruit for Missional Community tonight and gas so we don't run out on the way there (4 blocks away).
Don't get me wrong - I'm not complaining. Even in the craziness I'm aware that my life is blessed beyond measure. I have beautiful children, and a great school where they learn to dance for free, and a car I can run all over town, and friends to have lunch with, and money for gas and necessities, and an awesome library system, and even more awesome Missional Community. Hopefully I'll make it on time. And without a ticket.
Good thing I didn't try to tackle the laundry today. I guess I'll save that for my next day off.
