Quick update

I should be sleeping, not blogging. I'll regret this at 5am tomorrow morning.

So far 2009 has been an endless tirade of homework, vehicle issues, long shifts at work for both Mike and I, and the never ending task of trying to teach our children to be responsible, loving, gospel centered human beings.

I'm not sure if we smell funny or if we just haven't caught the trend yet - the three houses west of us are all vacant now. The porch on the corner house fell off last month and it's still lying in the yard, right behind the "for sale" sign. We're surrounded by foreclosures and short sales - which is the latest reason we haven't been able to close on our house. God, are we really supposed to be here? Really?

School has been challenging, to say the least. It's definitely a full time endeavor right now, and this is the hardest quarter yet. I enjoyed the mental health clinicals, but I'm not enjoying long term care. Especially not the "be there by 6:30am or fail" part. Combine that with 12 hour night shifts at work and 20 hours of homework a week and you have a perfect recipe for a psychotic breakdown. Just four weeks to go...

Jumah's going to try out for Track at Stadium in a few weeks. She worked really hard and got her cumulative GPA above a 2.0 for the first time. Abby has a big ballet recital in May and is learning to play the recorder. I'm optimistic Connor might actually eat a green vegetable this year, and he's learning to tap dance at school.

What's next? Hopefully we'll close on our house within the next few weeks (I never hold my breath on that one). I'll start my preceptorship in April. I don't know where yet. Mike is planning a trip to Romania for a church planter's conference in March with some other leaders from Soma. We're planning a vacation (just the two of us) to Mexico (thanks to Doug & Lu!!!) a week after graduation. We're also planning some family camping this summer, and lots of time at the beach house. Oh, how I long for long lazy days with nothing to do but read pulp fiction & work on jigsaw puzzles.

I have hope for Connor-man. You have plenty of months to sneak in a green vegatable in his meal. :-D

that's so cute what you wrote about Connor and green vegetables! Jacob has only eaten green beans when forced to and even then he gags and makes funny faces and insits that "they TASTE green!" (does green have a flavor?)
